Snow-day essentials

What to do on a snow day

What to do on a snow dayAs the East Coast braces for what is supposed to be a historic blizzard, I’m pretty excited for a first, real “snow day” of the year.

After having to leave work early today, due to weather conditions, I already knew that I probably won’t get much done tomorrow. When it rains, it pours, doesn’t it? We barely had any snow this winter, then all of the sudden we hear about state of emergency being in full effect. While massive crowds stormed grocery stores for that milk and bread, all I wanted to do is get home and curl up in bed with a good book.

One of my favorite things to do on, what I call a snow-day for grown-ups, is read. I always stay very busy and by the end of the day I’m too exhausted to read so having to cancel my plans for an entire day is a perfect excuse to catch up on my reading. I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve just finished reading “Gone Girl” (I refused to watch the movie before reading the book) and I still can’t get over how good it was! I’ve just started reading “Dark Places”, written by the same author and hope it to be just as good as “Gone Girl” (although I’m not entirely sure if that’s even possible). I also have a whole box of untouched magazines that I need to catch up on as well. They probably date all the way back to September, but who cares?

You guys know how much I love my candles, I have one burning pretty much every single night. On those cozy, let’s-stay-home days, I always like to burn one of my favorite candles. I have a whole stash of “good” candles, that I only burn on “special” occasions. Is that weird? It’s totally weird.

If you don’t currently have anything on your reading list, you can probably have some fun with Netflix. I recently became obsessed with Sons of Anarchy and if I had it my way, I’d probably binge-watch all seasons that are currently streaming, but I don’t think my husband would forgive me for that. If you love watching movies as much as I do, here’s a list of best movies that are currently streaming on Netflix.

Snow days are also perfect for treating yourself a bit. Whether it be a mani/pedi session, face or a hair mask, we all deserve to pamper ourselves up a bit once in a while. I personally love treating myself to a nice at-home mani session, especially when my hands and cuticles are overly dry due to harsh weather. A long, hot bubble bath will be a perfect way to end the day.

Hope all of my fellow East Coast-ers will stay nice and warm tomorrow and tonight. Stay safe you guys, and remember not to travel if you don’t have to!

Awesome post! I miss snow. I live down south and wanna move back north because I’m one of the few people who likes cold weather, haha.

I love the rustic vibe of the products you have chosen! I would love all of these if I was snowed in and my goodness do I wish I was! I love, and miss, may I add, the snow and want it to snow a LOT here! It snowed a teeny bit in London, but not much more than that!
Haha I totally do the same with candles! Like I only burn certain scents based on my mood! Oh, and reading is so fun – just picked up another book today and cannot wait to wind down!

    Happy Winter! <3

Okay, now I’m secretly hoping for an adult snow day this week haha. I think my favorite thing to do for my let’s-stay-home days is binge watching shows on Netflix or catching up on my favorite youtube channels<3
