Drugstore products to love

My new favorite cleanser? It’s only about 6 bucks.

Drugstore products can be such a hit and miss for me, but lately I’ve been crazy about a few new and one not-so new product.

Garnier Gentle Clarifying Cleansing Gel– this cleanser is so impressive and it’s my current favorite. It’s delicate, fragrance-free and perfect for sensitive skin. I don’t really like removing my makeup with this, as I prefer pre-cleansing with oils, but it leaves my skin feeling so good and thoroughly cleansed. It’s non-drying, but at the same time it helps to heal small breakouts. Garnier says that this cleanser minimizes small skin imperfections, and I do have to say that it helps with my redness as well and it does seem to soften my pores a bit.

wet-n-wild-contour-palette

Wet n Wild Color Icon Contour Palette in Dulce De Leche– this palette is great if, like me, you love a very natural contour. The formula is nice, but the light shade isn’t really a highlight. It does work nicely as a concealer setting powder though.

Elf-highlight-palette

Elf Illuminating Palette– I don’t use a whole lot of Elf products and I kind of picked up this palette on a whim. Turns out, I actually really like it. I wouldn’t really think of this as a highlighting palette- these powders are not very shimmery, but sort of really softening/smoothing. They really remind me of Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders; they also work nicely as a very, very subtle highlight.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Contour Palette in Dulce De Leche, Elf Illuminating palette and Maybelline Color Tattoo Crayons in Bronze Truffle and Barely Beige.

Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons in Bronze Truffle and Barely Beige– these are so creamy, so smooth and so, so pigmented! They are actually pretty long-lasting too. I love that they just glide on and are very easy to use, I have a feeling that these will not dry out as easily as my Color Tattoo pigments.

Jergens-wet-skin-moisturizer-review

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil– I know that I already mentioned this in-shower moisturizer a few times here on the blog, but I just can’t get enough. This is probably my 4th bottle now and it’s the best in-shower moisturizer I’ve tried. It actually does the job, it’s not greasy and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. Unlike the one from Nivea, it doesn’t have to be rinsed. Not to mention the gorgeous coconut scent!

What are some drugstore products you’re loving at the moment?

I have been good and haven’t done much shopping lately :) I haven’t seen any of these products in the stores yet, cleansing oil and color tattoo crayons sound great. I love color tattoos, crayon versions would be easier to use so when it is out, I will check them out.

Love posts like this. What oil do you remove your makeup with before you use this cleaner? Thanks!

Love a good drug store find, although you do have to be careful on their ingredient claims, that Jergens is a little sneaky, coconut oil is last on the list which means there’ll be about 0.1% in there, there’s defo more coconut fragrance in there than oil. It’s more about the mineral oil which will protect skin and make it feel smooth. I heart me some of that bronze truffle!

Well, that’s just something I think we are all used to at this point :) I think it’s a common practice for beauty brands to market products using specific ingredients, only to find them listed at the bottom of an ingredient list. I do love mineral oil as an in-shower body moisturizer so I really don’t mind.

Oh that elf palette is so good! I love the blush one too. I’be gone through 3 bottles of the wet skin moisturizer, but realized it was full of mineral oils :-( I’ve been trying to cut back on mineral oil products to see if there is a difference, I actually noticed a positive change to my skin, but I am so sad about the wet skin moistures! They were defiantly this lazy girls trick to a fast shower routine!

Oh really? That sucks! I really don’t mind using mineral oil on my skin- as long as it’s not on my face. I think that only un-purified and industrial strength mineral oil (which isn’t used in skincare) is “bad”. I don’t know if there’s actually any research behind these “mineral oil is bad for your skin” claims- I’ve used baby oil as a body moisturizer all my life and never had problems with my skin. I’m sure @cherylwooodman:disqus would know better than me though :)

Hey lovelies… you are very right, mineral oil is purified when it gets used in skincare. As an ingredient what it does is sit ontop of your skin which means water can’t escape it. It’s good for sealing in moisture. What it can’t do is give your skin any vitamins/conditioning that come from plant oils like almond/argan/olive, those add on skin conditioning omegas and vitamins that can absorb into skin and help to improve long term skin condition :D It’s just about deciding what it is you want to give your skin :)

Thank you for the info! I find that my skin has been happier when not using products with mineral oil. I’ve been using straight up rosehip seed oil. The Jergin’s wet skin would be amazing, but I’d notice as the day wore on it felt super dry and I needed more and more product, more so than when I would use my body butters.

OMG, I have to try the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. Only recently I started to apply my regular body lotion while my skin is still a bit wet and noticed an improvement. This Wet skin moisturizer must be even better!

Oh man I’ve heard so many good things about the Wet n Wild duo, unfortunately they aren’t a brand readily available in the UK but my parents are holidaying in the US this year so I’ve put this on my list of things to bring back hahaha. I can’t wait for the Color Tattoo crayons to come to the UK too as I’m already a big fan of the originals! (Or they might just go on to that list I mentioned earlier haha)
