Rimmel London Provocalips

Rimmel Provocalips review US

I think that at this point and time, we all take beauty industry’s claims with a grain of salt. Whether it be “the only moisturizer you will ever need that will completely transform your skin” or a drugstore lip product that claims to last up to sixteen hours. While most of these claims are highly exaggerated, these Provocalips lipsticks by Rimmel will do just that; last on your lips for sixteen hours, if not more.

I never wear makeup for as long as sixteen hours, but I can tell you that these last even longer than that. Rimmel promises this product to be kiss-proof, food-proof and transfer-proof. When I tested these for the fist time, it was on the day when I had to attend two holiday parties after work. Pretty good opportunity to test the longevity of the product, isn’t it? There was a lot of eating, drinking, talking, napkin-wiping, but one thing I didn’t need to do through the entire day and evening was touch up my makeup. After I came home the color still looked great. I also loved the fact that the color didn’t transfer on glasses or cups.

Rimmel London Provocalips Review

Rimmel’s Provocalips have a two-step formula. First you apply the color, wait about a minute for it to set then follow up with the gloss. I have to say that the formula of the gloss was a bit weird, it’s more gel-like than liquid, but once it set on my lips, it looked great. You an also skip the gloss for a matte finish.

Provocalips application

I bought three shades: Heart Breaker, Little Minx and Pucker Up. Heart Breaker is sort of a mix between deep wine-red and neutral brown (even though the packaging makes it seem like it’s a bright red), Little Minx is a bright, hot pink that reminds me a bit of NYX’s “Sweet Pink”, Pucker Up is a light, pink nude with some shimmer. Pucker Up is the only shade that I had a problem with, as I didn’t expect it to be so shimmery. When applied on my lips it had this metallic-shimmer finish that I didn’t really like. It sort of reminded me of those frosty lipsticks that were popular in the nineties.

I didn’t find this formula drying at all, but I do have to say that when Rimmel says long-lasting, they mean it. These never come off. No, really, they don’t. I tried to use a makeup removing cream, oil, cleanser and the color still wouldn’t come off. I finally had to use lip-scrub to get it off, because I refused to go to sleep with a lipstick on. Whether it’s a good thing or a bad one, I’ll leave it up to you to decide. The main idea behind this product is the fact that it’s extremely long lasting, so I’m not entirely sure if I can complain about that… I found these at Walgreens where they sell for about $7.00 each.

Well, seems like these are a good shot after all! I love the fact that they are long lasting, because sometimes I’m too lazy to retouch my makeup!

I love the colours of these, and the formula sounds amazing! I always think it’s better to wear a product that lasts for ages if you’re going for a bold lip, I definitely need to give these a go!

Aww, I saw these today in Boots and thought of you! ;) :D

Truly love the pretty packaging, the lip print is oh so cute and instantly draws you to the product. And the range sounds down right sha-mazing! So many lip products seep off onto wine glasses and coffee cups so fast so it’s super impressive that these last for longer than sixteen hours. Wow! All three shades look gorgeous, especially Little Minx (can’t beat a bold, bright pop of pink) and I can imagine you’d look stunning still in Pucker Up love, such a shame it was a little too shimmery though! Dammmnn why didn’t I pick one of these up today?! <3

I wish I had your willpower when it comes to removing MU, hehe sometimes I wonder why I've got fuchsia stains on my lips and realise it must be the lipstick I applied some days ago…this is why I ain't no beauty blogger, they'd throw away the emoji key :P

As always an amazing, amazing beauty review Paula! ;)

I haven’t tried these, but I just got three from L’oreal that are almost exactly the same idea! The L’oreal ones have a light pink shade that doesn’t have a metallic finish, so if you’re still looking for the same color without the finish maybe you could try one of theirs!
