Wet n’ Wild MegaLast

Wet n' wild lipsticks review

Almost every single time I try out Wet n’ Wild products, I’m pleasantly surprised. These MegaLast lipsticks were no exception.

The folks at Wet n’ Wild have definitely been stepping up their game lately. I think that over the last couple of years the brand has truly reinvented itself, creating better quality products while keeping their affordable prices.

These Mega Last Lipsticks are only $2.29 and come in 26 gorgeous shades. Two shades that I’ve tried are Just Peachy (right)  and Mauve Outta Here (left). I dig both, but I think that Mauve Outta Here is definitely a better match for my skin tone. I love the simple packaging, especially the fact that the cap is clear and colors are visible. The color payoff with these is fabulous and the pigmentation is very rich. All of that for just over 2 bucks? That’s right.

Of course, just like with any other products, or everything else in life, really, there are pros and there are cons. The latter being the fact that despite these being formulated with natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E to help smooth lips, they’re a bit drying. The finish is semi-matte, but the formula feels almost mega-super-duper-matte (super-mega-duper-matte?). At least on my lips. Of course, that’s nothing some lip balm/lip primer combo can’t fix. As you guys know I suffer from chronically dry lips and I absolutely NEED to apply a generous amount of lip balm prior to applying the Mega Last lipsticks. One thing that also helps to avoid the dry-looking finish, is applying these using a brush, rather than going straight from the tube. These are definitely budget friendly and very much worth the price. I’ve read a few reviews saying that “you get what you pay for” with these and that they’re not as long lasting as promised (they last good 2-3 hours on me), but to be honest, I’ve used a 30-dollar lipstick in the past that I found completely worthless. Just because something is more expensive, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better, and just because something is inexpensive, doesn’t mean it’s crap.

I own both of them and although I love the colors, I tend to skip them when I’m looking for a matte color when I go out. They dry out my lips so bad and they aren’t very long lasting. It’s a shame since they have pretty shades, but they aren’t great quality at all. Yet, it is a good deal for two bucks so I guess it’s fair

So sorry they don’t work for you! Did you try applying them with a lip brush and a liner? I find that it helps a lot not only with the staying power but with the dryness as well.

The pigmentation looks incredible! I know what you mean, there are so many inexpensive brands out there that are really stepping it up and have great products – Bourjois is also one of them!
