What’s in my makeup bag: October

thirteen-thoughts-beauty-and-lifestyle-blog

There isn’t much newness or excitement in this month’s makeup bag post.

Well, with the exception of the stunning Hourglass Ambient Lighting Surreal Light palette. While I was a little undecided for a while when thinking about purchasing last year’s palette, this time, I knew I had to have it. I mean, hello, it comes in a white marble packaging- and we all know how much I love my marble. Last year’s Ambient Lighting Edit palette was also one of my favorite makeup purchases and I still reach for it all the time, so there. I’m really liking this palette, not sure if I’ll do a review, since there are so many reviews out there already, but if you’d like to know what my thoughts are on it, let me know!

Loving: Marc Jacob polish in Blacquer– shiniest, deepest black, evah!

A lot of the products that I’m rotating right now are the same as last month’s, so I won’t bore you talking about the same things. I talked about these Armani Smokey Neutrals Eye Tints in this post, and Nude Smoke is my absolute favorite. I reach for it both when not using any other eye shadows and as a base when used with other products. It’s such a natural-looking color/product and has just enough coverage to conceal any discoloration or those tiny veins on lids. So easy to use, too.

Back in High School, I was obsessed with lip-plumping lip glosses. I loved products that had that tingling effect and this is just how this LipLift Max gloss in Petal Ice from Pixi works. Is it REALLY plumping? I don’t think so, but I love that minty tingle and hydration that it leaves on my lips. Not as good as Dior’s Lip Maximizer (HG right there, I swear I went through like 20 of them already) but it’s a nice product.

I also feel like I talk about UD Naked Concealer in every single post, but it’s just that good. Still loving IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Eye Illumination as well.

I got pretty excited few weeks ago when I found my Filmstar Bronze & Glow duo that I finally bought this Summer…. and then lost it before I even got a chance to use it. Because I’m a weirdo, I tend to collect empty product boxes and while going through them I found one that wasn’t empty…. So, it’s sort of like buying this product twice, isn’t it? At least that’s how it felt. Anyway, the bottom line is, this beauty is definitely very much worth the hype. From the packing to the product itself, it’s just perfect.

I’ve been keeping my makeup bag pretty minimal, but I plan to expand it after Christmas when I’ve got a little more cash and the weather gets nicer. That Marc Jacobs nail paint will be on my list as well ;) x

Collecting empty product (and its box) is one of my weird tendency, too, you’re not alone Paula. I reaaaally want the filmstar bronze & glow but maybe not this year. Are yours in light/medium?

Some of these products would be worth having just for their packaging, even if they were most useless of all :)

I really like the look of the hourglass palette, but I’m not actually a huge fan of the marble packaging, I kind of wish it was in their usual packaging

They definitely did it because of the whole white marble trend, I think. These powders are still very lovely though!

I really want to splurge on some new higher end products. The CT superstar glow palette just speaks to me! It’s so stunning and have heard only good things about the contour shade! I’ve also been meaning to pick up an hourglass product soon too! Definitely next pay day ;) xx

The contour shade is amazing! So happy that it doesn’t look fake or orange-y on my skin! Blends like a dream, too!

My goodness I have serious make up envy reading this! That hourglass palette is on my Christmas list so I’m hoping someone is actually willing to spend that kind of money on a make up item haha…

The hourglass palette looks dreamy, the packaging was really made with bloggers in mind I think haha. I still need to get my hands on the UD concealer, hopefully I can start treating myself to more makeup now that I finally started working again :D x

LOVE a good glossy black nail polish for fall/winter. <3 I've been crushing on the Master Palette by Mario (although I do find I have to use my bronzer as a lighter transition shade a lot) and JUST picked up the Estee Lauder Doublewear High Coverage Concealer ($28) and it's an unsung GEM. I use the shade 3W and it has just enough warmth to correct AND conceal. I love the Doublewear doe foot concealer (another severely underrated concealer… blows NARS and UD out of the water for longevity and flawlessness), but this one is incomparable in coverage… and with my tan fading and allergies in full swing, I need all the under eye coverage I can get.
