THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Affordable lip products to love

Happy National Lipstick day!

You can pretty much always find at least one handful of lip products swimming somewhere in my bag. Mostly, they’re just lip balms and lipsticks and while I love splurging on them, there are also quite a few drugstore lip products that I’ve been loving and trusting for years.

NYX Cosmetics makes some of my favorite drugstore lip products. My favorite line of their lipsticks is the Matte collection. Some of my-most loved shades are Tea Rose, Whipped Caviar and Natural. They have a very pigmented formula, a stunning matte finish, yet the formula wears very comfortably and isn’t drying at all.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren is a pretty and fun orange shade that I love for summer. Another shade I like from this line is Rich Girl Red. They’re not the most-long-lasting lipsticks, but I love reaching for them when I want to try something bright, but not too intense. Formula is a bit sheer, but buildable and wears very comfortably.

Similar to Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lippies, Milani Color Statement Lipsticks have a very nice formula, but are much more pigmented. They also come in a  beautiful packaging and smell just like bubble gum and come in a ton of fun both bright and dar shades. My favorite summer shades are Rose Hip and Flamingo Rose.

Another NYX product I love is their Wonder Pencil. It’s one of those multitasking pencils that can be used in your water line, your skin, and to highlight you cupid’s bow. It conceals, brightens and has a nice, creamy formula.

As far as lip care goes, it doesn’t get better than the good old Cherry Chapstick. I think that Cherry Chapstick was probably one of my very first beauty products. When I was little, growing up in Poland, my grandpa, who at the time lived in the States, would send me and my sister boxes full of chapstick and Cherry has always been my favorite.

When it comes to drugstore products, you can also never go wrong  with Smith’s Rosebud Salve. It works great on lips, skin and cuticles. Another very similar product that works just as well are the Vaseline Lip Therapy Balms.  These are basically petrolatum with some color and scent, but help to heal dry skin. These tin packages are cute, but I usually keep them in my night stand and only use them at nigh, as the idea of dipping my finger in and out of the tin during the day doesn’t sound too fun.

Milani Lipstick in Rose Hip, Milani Lipstick in Flamingo Rose, NYX Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose,    NYX Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Rich Girl Red.

What are some affordable lip products that you guys love? If you were to try only one of these products, I’d definitely recommend you try those Matte Lipsticks from NYX!
