THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Best foundations for oily skin

Best foundations for oily skin 2014

Ever wondered what are the best foundations for oily skin? Even though it’s winter time and my skin feels a bit dry, it still gets very oily and shiny throughout the day. Finding a foundation that really suits my skin-meaning gives me a nice shine-free coverage and doesn’t break me out-can be tricky, but I do have few favorites that I’d like to share with you today!

Revlon Colorstay. This is one of the most popular and best drugstore foundations out there. It comes in two different formulas: dry/normal skin and combination/oily skin. I use the latter. It has a medium to full 24h coverage with a lightweight formula. This baby has a special time release technology formulated for oily skin to control oil absorption. It’s definitely the best drugstore foundation for oily skin.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous. I already reviewed this foundation here. It’s a 3in1 foundation that is supposed to work as a primer, concealer and foundation in one. It has an all-day, long-wear formula and SPF of 20. If you have more of a combination skin, this foundation is not for you. It looks awful on dry areas of the skin, but it’s amazing for oily skin, especially for a drugstore product.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere. Another long-wear, all-day formula with a beautiful matte and very natural-looking finish.

Kat VonD Lock it Tattoo foundation. Very highly pigmented foundation that provides a very full coverage. It has natural polymers that absorb the oil. A little goes a very long way, the only thing that I don’t particularly like is the smell, which is sort of like an industrial-paint smell, even though the product is labeled as “fragrance free”

Make up For Ever Mat Velvet. Probably my favorite foundation to use in the Summer, it feels so very light on the skin, it has a very lightweight, thin consistency but still provides beautiful coverage. It is oil free and water resistant.

Make up For Ever Pro Finish powder foundation. My favorite powder foundation; it has a great non-chalky formula that is formulated with a vegetal coated bio-mimetic pigments which allows the coverage to be buildable while providing a natural matte finish.

Estee Lauder Double Wear (old formula). This was (is) my Holy Grail foundation-the only thing that I would put on my skin on special occasions. Unfortunately, the formula of this product has been changed and from what I hear, this foundation is not as amazing as it used to be. Thankfully I still have a few bottles left :) . This thing does not smudge, it provides a flawless, natural finish and stays shine-free for HOURS. I haven’t used the new formula, so I cannot vouch for it.
