THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Forgotten Hero

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation review

I remember when I tried the Double Wear Foundation by Estee Lauder for the very first time. All I kept seeing in the mirror was flawless, oil-free skin. I actually almost cried tears of happiness, as my skin was in a horrible condition at the time. Anyone who had suffered from bad acne at some point in their life will understand how emotional it can get at times and when your skin is so oily, most foundations can actually make it look worse. Not the Double Wear.

The good thing about being a skincare/makeup hoarder, is the fact that you get to re-discover your favorite products and fall in love with them over and over again. I haven’t used Double Wear for months, but  since today I was filming a video I wanted to use something with a little more coverage. Double Wear is excellent at covering redness and keeping the oily skin at bay. I wore this foundation on my wedding day and every single special occasion event that I attended since discovering it. Double Wear is on a bit of a heavy side, but leaves the skin looking quite natural, if applied correctly. I personally find that a buffing brush or a moist beauty blender works the best.  Double Wear has to be worked with fast as it does settle rather quick. Once it sets, it will not budge until you remove it and it’s probably the only foundation that I do not have to set with powder. I find that it’s easiest to use oil or oil-based makeup remover to remove the product from the skin (jojoba oil is one of my favorites to use for that purpose).

Double Wear is definitely THE best foundation for oily skin. This, however, also means that it doesn’t work too well with dry skin. The product tends to emphasize dry areas, so if you want to give it a go, make sure that your skin is moisturized very well-even if it’s on an oily side (and also remember to drink your water! My makeup always looks a lot better when I’m well hydrated.)

I’m using shade “Desert Beige”, at one point I also used “Shell”, (I was matched at the Estee Lauder counter) which was way too light and made me look like a ghost (whenever I used that shade, I was asked if I was getting sick). I think that my before and after pictures pretty much speak for themselves. (Btw, I’m wearing MAC lip liner in “Whirl” on my lips that I just told you about here)

Any Double Wear lovers out there? I know I’m not the only one! ;)
