THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Eyes & Brows: must-have tools and products

best-eyebrow-and-eye-products

You can only keep one makeup products that’s currently in your makeup bag, what do you pick?

For me, it’d probably be mascara… or a brow pencil. It’d definitely be difficult to decide between the two, but hey, it’s all hypothetical, right? Although my collection of 20+ mascaras, might be getting out of hand and getting rid of few of them doesn’t seem like such a bad idea..

THE EYES

Those hella oily lids of mine always need some priming prior to any eyeshadow application. MAC’s Paint Pot in Painterly is my go-to product for that. It gives nice coverage and works great with my light skin tone and it’s perfect for concealing any redness. And- of course- it keeps my eyeshadow from creasing. I’ve tried many different primers, always come back to this one.

I love curling my lashes and Tweezerman Procurl Lash Curler is my other must-have. Love the gorgeous rose-gold finish, and most importantly- this curler works great with my eye shape (before I curl my lashes, I also love warming it up a little using a hair dryer– it’s seriously life-changing).

Black liner- does anyone NOT have one in their makeup bag? I really like using liquid pen liners like this one from Stila or this one from Kat Von D Beauty but when I first fell in love with eyeliner, gel was my product of choice. Maybelline makes a great gel liner which is actually better than a lot of high-end versions. I usually use a Sigma E10 with this gel liner- with this brush you can make your liner as thin or as thick as you want.

And where would I be without my mascara? You see me talk about Dior’s Iconic Overcurl all the time and for a good reason- it’s the bomb. I love, love, love the brush, the lift the formula gives my lashes, the curl, the fact that my lashes don’t clump even when I layer the product. It’s been my favorite for many years now. And then, of course, there’s Maybelline’s Lash Sensational. Hands down one of the best drugstore products released over the last couple of years. The brush is fantastic and so is the formula. I actually started layering Too Faced Better Than Sex with this mascara and LOVE the way the two work together.

THE BROWS

It doesn’t matter what brow pomade or powder I use, I can’t live without the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo Angled Spooley brush (#7). It works well with both powders and gel-like formulas and the shape and size is just perfect.

I’m all about those natural brows, too, so I love using powders to fill in my brows. My favorite is ABH Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown. I also reach for brow pencils quite often, because just as the powders, they’re great for creating a natural look. IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Pencil is one of the pencils I’ve used, I really like the taupe color (just not sure how universal it really is) and the fact that it’s so easy to work with. I also love this one from Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Another thing that you’ll always find on my vanity is a bunch a spooley brushes. These come in hand for both eyes and brows. You can get a whole bunch of disposable ones for about 7 bucks on amazon right here.
