THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

What’s in My Makeup Bag: November

Anyone else refuses to believe that it’s December 1st tomorrow?

Because I do. If I’m being honest, I’m kind of ready to kiss 2017 goodbye though.

At the beginning of this year, I promised myself to stop buying so much makeup after realizing how many products from my collection went untouched for months. I have to say that with everything else in my life having been turned upside down this year, that was one of the very few goals I was able to stick to.

Of course, running a blog means that I’m also incredibly lucky to receive a lot of products as gifts, but the heart wants what it wants and I still keep a very long makeup wishlist, but I am so happy that I no longer buy things on impulse.

So, let’s see what’s in November makeup bag, shall we?

Urban Decay’s Naked Skin One and Done– ever since I got off Accutane, I’ve been loving light coverage base products and this one is… interesting. Yes, it has a very light coverage, natural finish, which is nice, but I do think that you have to have already a very good skin in order for this base to work for you. It’s said to blur imperfections and even out the skin tone, but I do think that this works a lot better for me when my skin is in a great shape. Bad skin days and this product don’t really mix well, sadly.

For lips, I’ve been reaching for an all-time favorite Stone from Dose of Colors and a new favorite, Bond Girl from CT. Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Balm and Lip Mask are also in constant rotation because well… dry lips.

REN Perfect Canvas Skin Finishing Serum– now this is a product I’ve been in love with. I use it in place of a makeup primer and it does a great job of prepping the skin. It has a serum-gel texture that absorbs nicely and leaves the skin feeling and looking soft and smooth while also being silicone-free. It creates a perfect canvas for the base application.

If I ever doubted that Tom Ford’s Eye Defining Pen Eyeliner was worth the price, these last few months convinced me that yes, it is worth every penny. After months of use, it still glides on smoothly and applies effortlessly. It’s almost as if it suddenly makes you better at applying eyeliner; definitely worth the splurge if you can afford it, THE best pen eyeliner I’ve ever tried.

Speaking of eyes, I was SO excited when I received Urban Decay’s Distortion palette (coming to Sephora tomorrow, December 1st). This palette is SO fun to use- the top row consists of transformer shades that have reflective pigments and change color in the light. This means that you can mix different shades to customize your looks. If you like to have fun and experiment with your makeup, then you will absolutely love this palette. If on the other hand, you’re a neutral-shadow kind of girl or guy, then it’s a pass for you.

I do have to say that it’s this kind of products that make me feel excited about makeup again. While recently cleaning out my stash, I noticed that I have so many products that are pretty much the same. I feel like a lot of products that beauty brands come out with are a bit samey, and it’s nice to see Urban Decay do something different.

Glossier’s Wowder has grown on me a bit, I must say. I mean, I really dig the formula, like the way it feels on my skin but it’s #palegirlproblems all over again here. The lightest shade- Light/Medium is a bit too dark for my skin, and as lightweight and subtle as this powder is, it’s not really translucent and I think that 3 shades are definitely not enough to cover all bases.

Another powder I’m loving (other than my beloved Hourglass Diffused Light and MUFE’s Pro Finish Powder) is Givenchy’s Prisme Libre Loose Powder (in #7). It is such a fine powder that adds radiance and glow to the skin and brightens it a bit.

What products did you reach for during the month of November? Are you ready to close out 2017? Any makeup/beauty goals you were able to stick to this year?
