THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

My favorite eyebrow products for a natural look

best-brow-products I am so guilty of over-plucking my eyebrows in the past- consequences of which, my left eyebrow seems to be suffering to this day.

I gave up plucking and waxing many years a go and my favorite grooming technique now is threading. It might be hella painful but it’s pretty affordable (I pay only $6.00) and the results are definitely worth those few minutes of discomfort.

I definitely prefer a natural, yet defined look when it comes to eyebrows. I’m not a big fan of “Instagram eyebrows” but sometimes I do like going for a little more intense look.

Powder and pencil products are definitely a way to go if natural brows is what you’re after. Pencils are also great to use when you’re in a rush and don’t have much time to play around with pomades. Two of my all-time favorite pencils are Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil in Brunette and Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen in Medium. Even thought they’re both pencils, they each have a formula that’s quite different: ABH Perfect Brow Pencil works just like a powder it also comes with a spooley on the other end and is ideal for on-the-go use. Pixi Endless Brow Gel Pen has a wax-gel formula which in addition to filling in those sparse areas, also keeps those tiny brow hair in place (it’s also a much more long-lasting than the ABH pencil). Another product of similar nature that’s worth mentioning is Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, which is also one of the best brow products I’ve ever used.

Two other products from Anastasia Beverly Hills that I absolutely love are the DipBrow Pomade in Chocolate and the Brow Powder Duo in Dark Brown. My favorite brush to use with both of these products is Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo Brush– it’s a dual ended and works great both with powders and pomades. I’ve had this brush for ages and have since tried many different brow brushes- anything from Elf to Chanel- none of which worked as well as this one.

My very first eyebrow product was Elf Eyebrow Kit in Medium and even though I no longer use it very often, it’s a great drugstore product, especially for beginners.

When you want to achieve a natural, yet defined look with these products, there’s one thing to keep in mind: you have to use very little product and a light hand. It’s very easy to overdo it, especially with the brow pomade so I always use just the tiniest amount of product, brush through my brows with a spooley, and use a little more product, if necessary.

Two other “brow tools” I have to mention are Pixi Eyebright Liner and MAC 195 concealer brush. The brush is perfect for carving out the brows with a tiniest amount of concealer and the Eyebright Liner is great for lining that lower brow line to define it even more (I always make sure to slightly blend in the pencil with my ring finger or concealer brush, to make it look less obvious and more natural). This Pixi liner is flesh-toned so it looks very natural and works much better than white pencil.

What kind of brows do you prefer? What are some of your favorite brow products?
