THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Nail polishes of the moment

fall winter 2013 nail polishes

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been loving dark nail polish colors like browns, purples, “burgundies” as well as more subtle and lighter colors like grays/nudes, flushed pinks and dusty purples.

Three of my favorite “dark” polishes of the moment are: L’Oreal’s Violet Vixen, which is best described as juicy violet color, it’s so vibrant and just beautiful; Essie’s Bahama Mama, which looks like the same exact shade as Violet Vixen, but much darker, with beautiful purple tones; and Essie’s Skirting the Issue, a beautiful brown-burgundy shade that is perfect for holiday season. One thing about these shades, is that they unfortunately bleed quite a bit when removed (especially Violet Vixen). Essie’s colors will last a week on my nails (that’s with doing dishes and laundry, etc.) while L’Oreal’s polishes chip much easier/sooner. I still love them though, my very first nail polish was of course red, and it was from L’Oreal :).

Onto the grays and neutrals: Orly’s You’re blushing is a beautiful dusty purple shade, Essie’s Ladylike is a flushed pink, powdery color that is very girly and goes with everything; Essie’s Chinchilly is a gorgeous, muted gray shade with slight purple tone, without any shimmers and most importantly it looks beautiful on the nails, suitable for very light skin tones and it doesn’t make my hands look “dead” which some gray polishes can do.

The worst part about doing my nails is always deciding on the color. Even though it’ll last only a few days and soon enough I get to paint my nails again, it always takes my half an hour to pick the color. First world problems :).
