THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

NYX Matte lipsticks

NYX matte lipsticks review and swatches

NYX Matte lipsticks are my latest obsession! Although they are have been around for a while, I just discovered them a few weeks ago.  I originally bought “Shocking pink” and “Perfect red” and liked them so much that I had to get more.

Here are some swatches and my thoughts:

NYX Matte lipsticks in “Nude”. Probably my least favorite color and only one that comes on a little bit “chalky”. If I apply it directly to my lips I look like a zombie, because the lipstick is so very pigmented, and the color itself looks more “orang-y” to me than nude. The trick with this one is to lightly pat it onto (moisturized) lips with a fingertip or a lip brush, although I prefer the former over the latter. Applying it in such way gives me just a nice tint of a color without “washing me out”.

NYX Matte lipstick in “Audrey”. This is my favorite out of all of the NYX Matte lipsticks and I find myself using it every single day. It’s a mauve-y pink that is perfect for everyday. I’m wearing it right here.

NYX Matte lipstick in “Sweet pink”. Also nice to use every day, it’s not too bright, but just a bit more intense than “Audrey”.

NYX Matte lipstick in “Shocking pink”. Recently used this one in this tutorial, this color is super bright and almost neon-like, “Shocking pink” is most definitely an appropriate name :)

NYX Matte lipstick in “Indie flick”. A bright coral/orange red that is just beautiful and perfect for Summer.

NYX Matte lipstick in “Perfect red”. And it is just that; ideal for fall/winter. I’m wearing it in this video.

From top to bottom: Nude, Indie Flick, Perfect Red, Shocking Pink, Sweet Pink and Audrey.

The texture of these NYX Matte lipsticks is really nice and smooth and they are also very long lasting. All are completely matte and highly pigmented. Price? $6.00 each, which in my opinion is a great value.
