THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Tiny Sally Beauty Supply Haul

Few days a go I stopped by Sally Beauty Supply store on my way home from work. I went in to pick up an a nail brush and left with few extra things. As always.

I bought this synthetic brush, that’s usually used to apply acrylic nails, to clean up my nail polish application. Right now I’m using this tiny brush that I dip in acetone and clean up the nail polish from my cuticles and around the nail if I happen to mess up. The one that I just picked up is a lot bigger and its bristles are much more stiff and firm. I haven’t used it yet (that Sinfulcolors polish really is very long lasting!), but I have a feeling that I’ll like it a lot more than the one that I’m using now.

California Mango-Mango Mend. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this product. It’s a cuticle and nail treatment balm for excessively dry skin. It comes in this big jar (4 oz) and I think I paid about $9.00 for it. It’s eco-friendly, smells divine (just like a sweet, juicy mango) and so far I’ve used it a few times and I think that it’s quite nice. It’s supposed to be the ultimate remedy for dry, patchy skin, rough and cracked heels, and it’s said to promote healthy nail growth and soft cuticles. While most of the reviews that I’ve read about this were very good, some people said that this product contains only petroleum jelly and fragrance. Here’s a full list of ingredients for Mango Mend:  Aloe barbadensis (Aloe leaf gel) USP, Pharmagel Complex USP, Prolatum Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Carthamus, Tinctorius (Salflower) Seed Oil, Mangifera indica (Mango) Seed Oil, Mango Buter, Kukui Nut Oil, Macademia Nut Oil, Vegative glycerin USP, Tocopheroi (Vitamin E USP), Lecithin USP, Organic extract oils of Mango, Orange, Grapefruit & Tangerine.

I’ve also wanted to try Seche Vite top coats for a while. They always use them at the nail salon and they give such a beautiful and shiny finish. My Essie’s “Good to go” top coat is almost done, so I figured why not. I got the Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat. I also wanted to see if I could pick up a few new nail polishes, but I didn’t see anything interesting. They mostly sell China Glaze polishes, and after my last polish from them (“Love’s a beach“) left me pretty disappointed, I’ll stay away. I’m not sure if it’s only the neon-y shades, but they honestly suck. The color and finish are beautiful, but the staying power is minimal, even with a top coat my pedi lasted 5 days, which just made me so angry.

I also got this nail clipper by Tweezerman. I liked it because it straight and sharp it can also be used for clipping acrylic tips and is chrome plated. I really couldn’t find a “straight” clipper before, usually they are curved at the corners and make it difficult to cut the nail in an even manner leaving a square shape.

I remember my sister raving about this ion Repair Solutions treatment, so when I saw it by the register I decided to pick it up as well. The package is obviously  intended for a single application (sort of like a trial/sample) but I think there’s enough product for at least two treatments. If I like it enough, I might go for the full-size option.

Looks like I mostly bought nail products. Didn’t even realize ;) .
