THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

What’s in my bag: beauty essentials #2

whats in my makeup bag blog

Last time I showed you guys what I carry with me in my makeup bag was all the way back in October. I constantly try to limit the amount of beauty/makeup products I carry with me because most of the time I have trouble fitting things like my phone or my wallet in my bag. And that’s a bit ridiculous.

I have to say that even though it’s been a while, I still can’t get used to the fact that my skin went from being extremely oily to dry. Most of my foundations have a matte finish that when used on my skin now leave me feeling like I’m wearing a mask. When I was cleaning up my makeup stash the other week I found a bottle of L’Oreal’s True Match foundation. I remember how much I loved the way it looked on me but I also remembered that it only lasted about an hour on my oily skin. I decided to try using it again and it’s been my go-to foundation for the last couple of weeks. My skin is so irritated right now (it’s literally peeling off) that I really have to keep my makeup to a bare minimum. I also always carry a bottle of this foundation with me.

One of my favorite bronzers lately has been Chanel’s Soleil Tan De Chanel in number 62. I got it as a gift a while a go from my sister, and I love how natural it looks on me. Another plus is that this bronzing powder is actually moisturizing, so it doesn’t irritate my skin and doesn’t feel dry at all. Milani’s Baked Blush in Luminoso is one that usually get the most use out of during the summer. I love how subtle it is and it also works great as a highlighter, sometimes I even use it as an eyeshadow.

Even though my skin isn’t as oily anymore, I still always have Make Up For Ever’s Pro Finish powder foundation with me. I guess it’s just a force of habit/attachment problem as I don’t really use it that much anymore, but if you have oily skin and want to try a powder foundation, I highly recommend this one. Another MUFE powder I really like to always have handy is the HD Microfinish Powder. It’s great for setting the concealer (I’m still loving NARS’s Radiant Creamy Concealer).

I still like to carry tons of lip products with me. During summer I try to stay away from matte finishes when it comes to lipsticks, especially if we’re talking day time when I’m usually at the office and like to use more natural colors like Laura Mercier’s Paint Wash Liquid Lip Color in Pink Petal or NARS’s Audacious lipstick in Anna. In addition to countless lip balms I also love OCC Clear Lip Tar. It’s amazing for dry, chapped lips and also works great as a lip primer.

Hand cream and hand sanitizer is also a must for me I also have to have some sort of perfume mini or a mist with me. If you follow me on Instagram then you probably know that I’ve been crazy about Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Hair and Body mist. This stuff smells ridiculously good.

Another thing that always comes in handy, but is missing from the picture here is towelettes soaked in witch hazel (these are the ones I use). Sometimes when I have a very long day and get home late, I use these to take my makeup off while on my way home. As much as I love makeup, I can’t stand to have it on my skin for longer than 6-7 hours.
