THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

What’s in my Makeup Bag: March

Don’t you just hate it when a product you love gets discontinued? Actually, don’t answer that. I know you do.

The other day I spent hour and half driving around looking for my favorite eyeliner from NYC and realized that I haven’t seen their products around for a while. In every single place I went to I was told that they don’t carry their products anymore and the brand just seems to have disappeared.

There are still a few places online that sell their products, but it’s nearly impossible to find them in store. This really bums me out and I hope that they eventually make a comeback. Other than their eyeliner, I’m also a huge fan of their Sun N’ Bronze Bronzing Powder in Hamptons Radiance that I always dig out, as soon as the weather warms up. It’s nothing that will bronze the skin dramatically or add a ton of color, but it does just enough for me. Similar, but definitely more intense with gorgeous texture is Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Beige. I use it on both my eyes and face.

I feel like I’m sooo boring when it comes to foundations at the moment and since most of the bases in my collection are matte, I only rotate between few products which suit my currently dry skin. L’Oreal True Match (I know you’re sick and tired of seeing me mention this foundation all the t, but it really is THE best drugstore foundation I’ve tried) and IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream never disappoint. Also loving: Coola Matte Tint Mineral Sunscreen– it’s not too matte (or drying) and works great under makeup. It has the slightest touch of tint so it won’t mask any small imperfections, but it’s a nice product to use on the no-makeup days.

I’ve been keeping things plain in the nail department as well. Staying away from colors at the moment as I’ve been keeping it safe with Marc Jacobs Blacquer and Tom Ford Sugar Dune. Love Sugar Dune, but I honestly feel like TF polishes are not worth the price tag, at least not until they improve their formulas to be more long-lasting.

Claré Blanc Luminizing Mineral Powder in Be Mine– such a pretty product to use as a highlight or on the eyes. It has the most beautiful sparkle (use sparingly!) that is a little difficult to capture on camera.

If you’re not a lipstick girl (or boy) then these cuties are for you. Clinique Crayola Chubby Sticks in Pink Sherbert and Fuzzy Wuzzy have been my recent go-to lippies. They are sheer and wear very comfortably even on very dry lips.

Two other lip products I reach for are: MAC Faux and Revlon Siren. I love layering Siren with nude/pink shades as it mutes the orange a bit, but still adds that beautiful pop of color.

Of course, I also have about five tubes of Glossier Balm dotcom sitting around; in my purse, by my nightstand, in my office. If you have yet to try these, you gotta (and if it’s your 1st purchase, save 20% off). Givenchy Noir Révélateur is also quite comforting and despite looking black, it’s actually purple and works as a balm enhancing natural color of lips. I wouldn’t use this on extremely dry lips that flake though- only when my lips are already well hydrated. I find that the tint tends to accentuate those dry bits.

File this under: product I wish I discovered sooner. These TBS Honey Bronze Drops of Sun are awesome. As someone with skin so pale it’s pretty much transparent, I was a bit hesitant to try these when they were sent to me a few months ago and now I’m in love. These drops look pretty dark, but actually blend in nicely and add juuust a bit of color and a lovely glow to the skin. I also like to mix a few drops with my foundation.

Left to right: Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick in Pink Sherbert ad Fuzzy Wuzzy, Givenchy Noir Révélateur, Revlon Siren, MAC Faux, The Body Shop Honey Bronze Drops of Sun, Coola Mineral Sunscreen, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Beige, NYC Sun n’ Bronze Hamptons Radiance Bronzing Powder, Clare Blanc Be Mine Luminizing Mineral Powder.

I also FINALLY found something that will keep my skin hydrated during my acne treatment: Avène Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream. I have a lot to say about this product but as much as I love it, I do have a small issue with it. I actually reached out to Avène for an answer and hope that they’ll get back to me soon. I’m working on yet another skincare post where I’ll address the issue and tell you all about why I love this product so much.

I can’t believe I almost made it to April with only buying mascara and a lipstick and not spending so much on makeup. Let’s hope I can keep this up….
