THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

YSL Baby Doll Mascara

Few weeks a go I told you guys that I have a new favorite mascara: YSL Baby Doll mascara. Today I have a full review and some before and after pictures for you.

YSL Baby Doll Mascara promises “a full open-eye effect created by lifting and separating lashes. The patented formula creates long-lasting volume and intense color that is evenly dispersed with no flakes, clumps, or smudges for up to 24 hours.”

I got mine in the shade “Fetish Black”. Few things that I love about this mascara: the brush, which is awesome at separating the lashes; the intense, black color; long-lasting formula; no flakiness throughout the day and the fact that it removes quite easily. Despite the awesome volume that this mascara creates, my lashes do not feel heavy and very soft to touch (if you ever used a mascara that tends to leave lashes looking clumpy and feeling all crusty and brittle, then you probably know how uncomfortable it can be to use such formula).

I can create both natural and dramatic looks with this mascara, but one thing that I noticed that it dries rather quickly which can make layering the product on a bit difficult. While I think that the volume is quite nice, I wish that this mascara was a bit better in the length department. I think that this mascara will look amazing on me once I start using RapidLash again.

Here are before and after pictures of YSL Baby Doll Mascara (keep in mind that I don’t like using a lot of mascara on my lower lashes).

YSL Baby Doll Mascara Before& After; none, one and two coats.

Is it worth the splurge? At $30.00, this mascara is a bit pricey, there’s no denying that. I think that If you’re not on a tight budget and can afford it, give it a go. It’s a very, very nice mascara, definitely one of the high-end favorites of mine, but it’s no miracle worker. I think that there are tons of awesome drugstore mascaras that have results that are quite comparable to these. If you’re on a budget but would like to try a nice, high end mascara, I’d recommend Dior’s Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara, which is my all-time favorite mascara (and I can’t believe that I still haven’t done a post on it, but rest assured I’ll make up for this soon).
