THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

A Face Mask for Every Scenario

best-face-masks

Don’t we all do a whole lot of masking this time of year?

Yes, I love a good face mask, any time of year, but fall and winter are just a bit more…. pamper-y? It gets dark quick, it’s cold and gloomy and a lot of it shows on your skin. Colder weather is also a perfect excuse for a nice bath and what’s a bath with without a face mask, I ask?

So, let’s talk about some of my favorite + best face masks.

FOR A QUICK FIX…

I always reach for Eve Lom Rescue Mask or Bobbi Brown’s Radiance Boost. Rescue is perfect for oily and acne-prone skin. It’s purifying and will help dry those breakouts fast (sometimes I also use it as a spot treatment). Bobbi Brown’s Radiance Boost is amazing for dull-looking skin. All you need is five minutes with this one. It’s sort of mask/scrub combo that delivers visible results, especially when your skin is looking a little rough. Sensitive and delicate skin? Be careful when massaging this one into your skin, as it does contain walnut grain. If your skin is extremely dry, you’ll love Weleda’s Skin Food– a cream that I mentioned in this post. Gently press a warm, moist washcloth on your skin, then apply a thick layer of this cream and leave it on for two minutes, then rinse. Your dry skin will feel ahhmazing!

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOME RADIANCE

Look no further than the Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask from Kiehl’s. This mask is like an instant facial in a  jar: it tightens, brightens skin and makes it look more “alive”. I think anyone with normal/oily skin will absolutely love this mask. It’s a great little pick-me-up for your skin whenever it feels dull and tired. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask– this is like a fabulous treat not only for your skin, but also for your senses. Smells divine and is packed with AHA and pumpkin enzyme that will revitalize and smooth the skin. Not for sensitive skin, but if AHA products are already a part of your routine (and they should!) then you’ll love this mask. It’ll also help brighten the skin, so if you suffer from any hyper-pigmentation, you’d love it.

TO PURIFY..

Anything and everything with charcoal. The Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask has been my go-to since 2011. It’s probably one of my favorite and most trusted face masks. Great for purifying your skin and as long as you use it on regular basis, your pores will stay squeaky-clean. Huge plus that this comes in a tube. TBS Himalayan Charcoal Mask is fantastic too and probably my favorite from this collection. It’s very refreshing and again- works nicely with oily skin. Bobbi Brown Instant Detox is another purifying favorite that is great at absorbing excess oils. I also really wish that all face masks came in the same packaging as this one- tubes are SO much better than jars.

TO PLUMP AND RENEW

TBS British Rose Plumping Mask from this collection. I love that it doesn’t feel sticky or uncomfortable on my skin and leaves it feeling very soft and smooth and slightly more plump. This mask is great for dry skin. It washes off easily and is really refreshing. Super Collagen Mask from Mario Badescu is also nice for plumping and smoothing your skin. I love this mask although I was a little surprised as I thought it’d be a bit more hydrating and I find that it does the opposite, which means that it’s great for those with oily skin. The moisturizer and serums apply beautifully after this mask. Also, one of my favorite sheet masks: SK-II Facial Treatment Mask. If you travel, go without sleep or need to rehydrate and sooth your skin, look no further. Complex Beauty Ocean Potion is also incredible for soothing and calming tired skin.

This pretty much sums it up for my favorite and best face masks. What are some of your favorites?
