THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

What’s in my makeup bag: January

After a month-long break I took from wearing makeup.. I’m back.

Even though my skin is looking better than it has in many, many years, it felt so good to start wearing makeup again. I always get slightly annoyed when people think that women (or men) wear makeup because they feel like they need to wear it. It’s not the case for me, just like I know it isn’t the case for majority of us.

I love my mornings, when I listen to an audiobook or to my favorite morning radio show, and put makeup on. It’s not something that I feel I need to do. It’s something that I enjoy doing, I don’t ever dread it, I look forward to it. every. single. day. Love reaching for my favorite products, or testing out new ones. And speaking of new products, I told you in this post that I’m planning to not buy any new makeup products until April. I just feel that I already have a very large collection and it’s such a waste to buy products, just to “have them” especially since I don’t tend to do as many one-product reviews as I have in the past. My sissy knows best though, and she bought me the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Palette. I missed out on their previous LE blush palette and really wanted to get my hands on this one and only started using it this week. So far, I love how luminous these blushes are, they definitely add a beautiful, healthy glow to skin.

Last week I went in for my monthly appointment and my dermatologist put me on a higher dose of Absorica (since I’m mid-treatment I’m planning to finally write a post about it). I didn’t think I’d notice a big difference but OMG the fatigue is real, guys. I usually enjoy coffee only on the weekends as during college I had a pretty bad addiction to energy drinks. Now I’m back to drinking 3 cups of coffee a day. I sleep for 10 hours, which is also highly unusual for me as anything longer than 6-7 hours is too much for me. Nowadays, I’m just tired all.the.time. Despite sleeping for that long, I still have dark circles under my eyes- also something I never had to deal with until I went on Absorica, even if running on very little sleep. So, after my little break from makeup, I couldn’t wait to dig out my concealer. I actually use two: Urban Decay Naked Concealer and MAC Pro Longwear. Most of the time I use the Naked Concealer in Fair Neutral, but right now I’m reaching for Light Warm which is a bit warmer and helps me conceal those circles. I add a little Pro Longer in NC 15 on top of that to brighten that area.

I feel like I’ve been super boring with my foundation choices lately, but the truth is, I really don’t need a whole lot of coverage and since I’m currently very dry, I’m also not picky. Let me tell you, it’s a strange feeling looking in the mirror mid-day and realizing that your foundation is in fact still intact and not melting off your face. So, a few of my light and dry skin favorites have a solid spot in my makeup bag: Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow Foundation, L’Oreal True Match and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

On my Instagram I also mentioned these multi-tasking pencils from BHÜE Beauty and I was so surprised at how creamy and smooth they were. They also smudge (on eyes as an eyeshadow base) and blend nicely and work on eyes, lips, brows, cheeks. I’ve been really enjoying using them so far.

I’ve been staying away from lipstick, as a lot of them tend to be really drying on me right now. Mostly I’ve been just using a ton of lip balms. Today I also used the Rodial Suede Lips lippie in Melrose Ave and I’m happy to report that it wears quite comfortably (provided that my lips are taken care of and not peeling). Other than that, I’m planning to reach out for my favorite, light glosses like Chanel Glossier in Beige Star (206) or Dior Fluid Stick in Avant-Garde. Also loving the Smokey Eye Sculpt Eyeshadow Palette from Rodial. This palette is handy and cute and the shades are perfect for everyday use.

UD Naked Concealer in Light Warm, MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15, Rodial Melrose Ave, Dior Fluid Stick in Avant-Garde, Chanel Glossimer in #206, BHÜE Pencil Set, Rodial Smokey Eye Sculpt Eyeshadow Palette.

What’s in your makeup bag this month? I know that many of you guys are passionate about makeup as well, but do you think that you also sometimes tend to buy certain products, just because you “have to have them“? Would love to hear your thoughts on this one!
