Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara

Maybelline-lash-sensational-luscious-review

Maybelline-lash-sensational-luscious-reviewA little over a year a go, Maybelline released their Lash Sensational mascara, and the beauty world went crazy. Including me.

To this day, I think that Lash Sensational is one of the best mascaras I’ve ever tried and it’s also one of my favorite drugstore products. Maybelline just released a new version of Lash Sensational: Lash Sensational Luscious. Here’s what Maybelline says about their product:

Reveal layers of softer, denser lashes. Unique mascara formula is blended with precious oils. Removes easily with soap and water. Our Fanning Reservoir Brush envelops lashes with precious oil-infused formula from root-to-tip while fanning out lashes.

Why I love it:

-I got my Lash Sensational Luscious in Blackest Black, and it’s a very intense color, almost ink-like, which I love.
-gives really nice length and volume at the same time
-removes easily
-I love the matte black packaging
-it doesn’t “crack” or make my lashes feel dry

What I don’t love:

-I absolutely loved the wand/brush in the original Lash Sensational: it had a curved brush that lifted my lashes and separated them very nicely (you can find my review and swatches here). Lash Sensational Luscious has a very different brush that doesn’t provide that lift and doesn’t separate the lashes very well.
-the formula is very, very wet, but dries quite quickly, so that’s a plus. Because of how wet the formula is, wiping excess product before using this mascara is a must for me- otherwise my lashes look like a clumpy mess.

I think that this mascara is pretty awesome, but like I said, you need to wipe off the excess product before each use to get great results. It definitely provides more volume than the original Lash Sensational, but one of the main reasons why I loved the original one so much, was because of how natural it made my lashes look. Lash Sensational Luscious can easily turn clumpy, if you’re not being careful, but if you take your time while applying it, you will love the results.

Have you seen this mascara yet? Do you love the original Lash Sensational as much as I do?

Lash Sensational is my favourite mascara ever! So much better than lots of high end ones I have bought. I agree that the wand on the original mascara is fab so not sure I could bring myself to switch!

I love love LOVE the lash sensational mascara and it’s nice to see that their follow up mascara is just as good. Cuz like sequels, follow ups to the originals usually disappoint. :/ I’ll keep an eye out for this when it releases here in Taiwan Xxxx

The original one is my favorite! But this one looks amazing, I’m in LOVE with the packaging! In my opinion, this one is the most gorgeous packaging of a drugstore mascara ever. Great post, thanks for sharing! xo

This certainly sounds like one to try for me. I love the original Lash Sensational so I’d love to see how, for me, it compares. I’ll probably end up putting the original wand in the tube of this stuff, I love that wand too much!

Yeah, I love the original wand so much, wish this one came with a similar one. It’s still a great mascara though!

Ah that’s disappointing, I’ve just started using the original version and I agree that the brush is really good. They should’ve just kept the brush the same!

    Mascara hates me :(

99% of them make my eyelashes go straight down so I need a lighter-weight formula. Sorry this wasn’t as good as the original Paula.

I am a big fan of the original lash sensation (especially the wand), I haven’t seen this one yet. I had the same problem about the formula, however after leaving it dry for a bit now it is just fine. Result looks really good so I will keep this in mind!

I’m not a big fan of the original one…everyone raved about it and I tried to like it, but just cannot…I think my lashes look much better with the “Falsies”, also from Maybelline. But this one looks amazing in your lashes… Maybe I’ll try it out..

Oh no way! I’m crazy about the original one :D I think if you like falsies, you’d like this one since both have a similar formula in terms of volume :)

I wasn’t a big fan of the original one but I’m really tempted to try out this one to see how it’ll work for me. I’ve currently been loving the L’oreal Wateproof Million Lashes Mascara, so hopefully this Maybelline will can match up to it!

We don’t have this in the UK yet from what I know but I hope we will get it soon. Not too sure about the brush though as I quite liked the other version x

It’s a fairly new release that still isn’t widely available here, so I’m sure you’ll get it sooner or later. I definitely love the original more, although this version is very nice, too!

What a shame about the brush being different! They shouldn’t call it Lash Sensational anymore :) I love the original one. Your lashes look great with this mascara on! x

Thanks so much Dagmara! Ahh yes, shame I know but I think that maybe if they kept the same brush, people would complain that it isn’t any different from the original. I wish they made it somewhat similar to the original one. Still a lovely product though :)

You got me hooked on the original so it’s a given that I must try this! Kind of a bummer that this one doesn’t do the greatest job at separating (I have crazy lashes to begin with) and I like nice separation but I can be patient and take my time, lol. Love, love the photo of your eyes <3 Xx

I tried the Maybelline Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara, and it sounded pretty similar to this product. It definitely gave my lashes incredible volume and length, however, the one turn- off for me was the fact that it was very clumpy. Hmmm… I’ll have to try this one out!
