Everyday, office-friendly lip colors

Everyday Office Friendly Lip Colors

Everyday Office Friendly Lip Colors

Mauve-y nudes, dusty rose and berry pinks are amongst my favorite “everyday” lip colors at the moment.

When it comes to office-friendly colors, I always went for “barely there” nudes because wearing bright shades always requires a few touch-ups during the day which most of the time, I just can’t be bothered with. It’s not that I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing colors like deep reds to the office, but there is so much work with those colors- you have to prep and prime, make sure that the application is flawless, not to mention that red lipstick just gets everywhere (or is it just me?).

Let’s talk about some of my favorite “everyday” colors and formulas that are easy to work with and don’t require a ton of prepping and touching up during the day.

Sephora Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve

The formula of these lip stains is amazing- so creamy and really long-lasting, I really like the applicator as well. Marvelous Mauve is a pretty mauve-y color that looks really nice with my skin tone. It doesn’t look as mauve-y and delicate as it does on the packaging- it’s a bit darker when applied but it’s not too intense to pull off.

MAC Faux

A satin-finish lipstick which is also a mauve pink, but a bit muted. This is a color that I probably reach for most often when it comes to my “everyday” makeup because it goes well with everything- whether all I wear is just mascara and lipstick, a winged liner, a soft smokey eye- it’s just one of those colors that’s very universal. The formula and wear is also very comfortable.

Chanel Glossimer in #206

I think that with all the matte and lip-stain craze over the last couple of years, not many of us reach for glossy lip products anymore, but I really dig this one. Sometimes when my skin and lips are feeling dry, I’ll use a light base, some lipliner and a little bit of this lip gloss on top. It’s not too sticky and has a pretty, true nude color that doesn’t wash me out.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in #47 L’Amoureuse

This is as bold of a color that I’m willing to wear to work. I think with bright colors like pinks and reds you constantly have to check if they have feathered out, touch them up, make sure you didn’t get any on your teeth- I just don’t feel like doing all this during my workday. L’Amoureuse is a pink berry with a satin finish, the formula is very smooth and incredibly comfortable but definitely tends to travel quite a bit so a lip primer and a lip liner is a must for me with this one.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Natural

NYX Matte Lipsticks are amongst my favorite lip products and I absolutely love their formula. Natural is a pretty, MLBB color that’s very pigmented and long-lasting.

Dose Of Colors Stone

This is another shade that I reach for quite often for several reasons: I love this shade (duh) but the formula is also very long-lasting and the matte finish is just beautiful. At first, I didn’t really get along with this color because it looked a bit too dark on me (it’s really pigmented), but once I tried applying a thinner layer, I got the exact color I wanted.

With some of these, I also pair them with a primer (love this one) and a lip liner. Some of my favorites are: NYX Wonder Pencil (great for “canceling” out your lips, highlighting cupid’s bow and contouring your lips), MAC Boldly Bare is an orange-brown that works with a  lot of nudes, MAC Whirl which is a dirty rose (came out a bit weird in this swatch, you can get a better idea and swatch right here), NYX Pale Pink that’s great with light colors, NYX Natural  which is a little similar to Boldly Bare and MAC’s Soar which I love paring with mauve-y colors like Stone or Faux.
