Refined, healthy looking skin in 5 minutes? Yes please.
Clay-based masks are probably amongst my favorite- I love anything that is described with with words like “detox” or “purifying”. For many years now, my go-to has been Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask formulated with White China clay, but lately I’ve been reaching for Bobbi Brown’s Instant Detox Mask more often and one of the reasons is that, as its name suggests, its instant. It works in 2-5 minutes which is ideal for someone as busy and inpatient as me.
In case you weren’t able to tell, I’ve been on a bit of a skincare kick lately. I’m turning 27 in a few weeks- oh, the horror!!!! Although I do take pride in the fact that whenever I leave the house sans makeup, people tend to think I’m a High School student, one of my goals this year is to get my skin to look as good as possible and end my life-long battle with acne, once and for all. I’m also meeting with a new dermatologist soon so keep your fingers crossed for me!
Now, back to today’s review…
“When a simple face wash won’t do, this purifying formula does the dirty work, providing a deeper, more thorough cleaning. Like a deep cleanse for skin—this mask removes impurities, pollutants and excess oil from pores without stripping skin. Skin instantly looks healthier, clearer and more refined. A unique blend of Hawaiian Sea Water and mineral-rich Amazonian White Clay work together to help extract toxins and impurities, while reducing the appearance of pore size. Combined with the detoxifying powers of Sea Salt and Sea Water, the powerful clay-based formula helps remove pore-clogging debris and excess oil from skin, while simultaneously nourishing—never over-stripping.“
What I love:
-this mask comes in a tube and you already know just how much I love skincare products that come in a tube- especially when it comes to face masks
-the application isn’t messy and the product is easy to remove
-works in 2-5 minutes, so you don’t have to wait half an hour for it to dry
-doesn’t irritate the skin- no burning, tingling or itching
-leaves skin feeling smooth, thoroughly cleansed, reduces redness and gives you that *deep clean* feeling
-gives instant results, as promised and skin improves with regular use
-works great for an oily T-zone, but doesn’t leave the skin looking and feeling dry/tight
What I don’t love:
-probably the only thing that I’m not too crazy about is the price tag: $47.00. The Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask is $25.00 so that’s quite a difference. I will say though, that the tube is quite big and I’m sure that it’ll last me for quite a while since you really only need a small amount of product. Also, I think that the fact that this mask works so instantly is something that I do value and will definitely re-purchase once I run out.
Bobbi Brown’s Instant Detox Mask quickly became a favorite for me. I think that anyone with oily and/or acne prone skin will absolutely love this mask. It helps to mattify skin without over drying it. It think it works way better than GlamGlow and gives your skin that instant pick-me-up.
Do you like using purifying face masks? If so, what are some of your favorites?

February 27, 2016 at 10:09 amI have yet to embrace Bobbi Brown products even though I hear on the radio all the time endorsing the quality of her products!! If I have the money to spare I will definitely start checking this out! I don’t use many masks but I think I’m missing out on something great! =)

February 27, 2016 at 10:15 amAbsolutely love the sound of this. I usually buy the fresh masks from Lush, but something with a bit longer shelf life like this sounds perfect. I guess you get what you pay for really, despite the price tag, if it works it’s worth it!

February 28, 2016 at 4:43 amI’ve heard so many positive raves about the GlamGlow, but if you said this one is better than that. I guess it’s really worth the price.

February 28, 2016 at 3:04 pmI have to give this a try! I heard a lot about Bobbi Brown’s skincare products but never looked too much into it. This mask sounds like something I would use, I don’t own any purifying face masks so I might have to get this.

February 29, 2016 at 3:51 pmI really need to take more time out for face masks. I am going on a bit of a skincare kick as since I was ill at the beginning of the year my skin has become really dry and irritated and seems a bit dull. My go to face mask has always been the REN glycolactic radiance renewal mask, it always leaves my skin glowing and feeling amazing :) xx

March 1, 2016 at 2:27 pmI’m so not a fan of the GlamGlow masks and feel like they get way too much credit. Ok, maybe they’re great for some people/skin types but I’m just not into them! This mask sounds lovely except for the fact that I try to stay away from the words “detox” and “purify” because I know that translates to: “purging.” Obviously, this is completely common and even necessary some times but I just hate breaking out, lol. I’ve been on a bit of a skincare kick lately as well so maybe it’s time I pull the guck out and really let my products work their magic. Bobbi Brown for the win! (And I’m turning 29 this year :( You’re still a baby, lol) Great post, Paula. Xx

March 17, 2016 at 10:57 amThis sounds gorgeous! I love deep cleanse type masks but they can often leave my skin feeling a bit tight so this sounds like a lovely alternative :) I love the tube, too.
