A balm cleanser’s best friend

It’s been years since I traded my Clarisonic for a good old washcloth when it comes to daily cleansing and I never looked back. I still use my Clarisonic once in a while, but when it comes to daily use, I much prefer using washcloths since they’re much more gentle on my skin.

For the longest time I’ve been using these very cheap terry washcloths, which worked nicely, but after a few washes they got a bit tougher, felt a bit scratchy and weren’t as soft and fluffy. These Eve Lom Muslin Cloths actually feel softer after each time I wash them.

These  are described as “Kind on the skin, these specially woven muslin cloths are made from 100 percent cotton to gently exfoliate, help improve blood circulation, and offer a deep, refreshing clean. Skin is left exceptionally soft, smooth, and better prepared for the application of serums and creams.”

Why I love these:

-they’re soft
-the fabric feels very durable
-they clean really well
-they gently exfoliate the skin without being overly harsh like some washcloths tend to be
-they work great with cream and balm cleansers (these were really made to be used with a balm cleanser, they remove all that thick, creamy, greasy residue and feel very luxurious)
-they’re gentle enough to use around your eyes
-when used with a balm cleanser they’re great at removing makeup
-if you care for them well enough, they will last you for a very long time
-they also come with a little pouch which makes it easy to store and travel

What I don’t like:

-they’re a bit too big for my liking.. ok they’re actually huge and my usual washcloths are at least 1/3 the size of these. I think I’d much rather have this come with 6 cloths, but each be half the size
-depending on your preference, they might be a bit thin. I’m a huge fan of thick washcloths, they just absorb more water (before using a face mask I always put my washcloth under hot water, wring it out and cover my face with it while gently pressing it on to help my pores open up so that the mask can work better) however, because these are so big, I just fold them in a half, which in turn makes them feel a bit thicker.
-depending on your budget, you might find these to be quite pricey

As you see, I really like these muslin cloths but considering the price point, they might not be for everyone. Seeing how great these work and how durable they are, I’d definitely repurchase them, especially since I’m really getting into balm cleansers at the moment.

I know exactly what you men about the clarisonic – it is kinda too much for everyday use and definitely not twice a day! I like muslin cloths – the body shop ones are nice but these are pretty expensive, especially since I always lose them!

I haven’t used any fancy face cloths, I just use small face towels, have tons of them and they do the job for me perfectly :) On another note, I adore the Eve Lom Cleanser :) x

It’s been months since I’ve used a muslin cloth. I don’t know why because I love them so much! I have the Liz Earle ones, and I like them, but these look nicer! What are your favorite balm cleansers?

I have the Liz Earle muslin cloths, although I think I might have to give these a go!

Hey! I have gone through your blog. It’s very interesting but I am having a question about muslin wash cloth, are they made only from cotton? Because muslin is made up by joining. If we join other fabric then still it will be a muslin?
    Thanks for sharing your ideas.
