Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been testing Maybelline’s fairly new Superstay Better Skin foundation.

I’ve actually received it for free from Influenster. If you guys don’t know what they’re all about feel free to checkout their website to find out how you too can try and test out full-size products.

I was actually very excited about trying Maybelline’s Superstay Better Skin Foundation and it was because I absolutely loved their Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. Here’s what Maybelline says about this product:

“Superstay Better Skin Foundation gives an all-day flawless coverage and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the appearance of spots, dullness and uneveness and gives you a brighter, more even and stress-free skin.”

What I like about this foundation:

-it provides a nice coverage
-it has a very natural, semi-matte finish (at least on my dry/combo skin)
-the packaging is great, I love the fact that it has a pump
-it goes on smooth and blends nicely
-it feels very comfortable on my skin
-I found it to be a long-lasting formula

What I didn’t like:

-first off, the shade was a huge fail. I was sent the shade Classic Ivory, which is the second-lightest shade and it was just way too dark. At first it didn’t look as bad, but it did oxidize after a few hours and had me looking orange and a bit blotchy.
-it can settle into pores and lines- pore-filling primer is definitely a must with this foundation.

Other than that, I actually really liked this foundation. It worked great with both my dry and oily bits on my skin, it didn’t transfer easily and most of the time, I didn’t feel the need to use powder. As you can imagine though, the fact that this foundation is long-lasting is pointless, since I can’t wear it for long period of time because it oxidizes. As far as the “better skin in 3 weeks” claim, I can’t really give you an opinion on that because I wasn’t able to use it for 3 weeks straight, due to the shade not being a good match for me.

I also read a few reviews where it was said that this foundation felt watery or thin, and it’s really strange because this was not what I experienced when using this foundation at all. I actually thought that it was a bit similar to Covergirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation, where the formula is creamy and has a nice, long-lasting coverage.

Any of you tried this foundation yet?

This is one foundation I have heard such mixed things over, but I must admit I wasn’t a fan!

I’ve never tried this foundation, but I wouldn’t like anything that oxidizes since I would want to be able to wear it all day.

Shame they sent you the wrong shade as it would be interesting to see if it really does improve your skin :) xx

I’ve actually sampled the shade down from this one, and it was too light for me, this pretty much means that none of them would match me, which is a shame because this foundation was quite nice!

I have not used Maybelline foundations in many, many years due to shades being completely wrong for me. I might have to check out that porcelain fit me foundation though – that wasn’t around when I looked at it last!

It looks like a very thick foundation. Good review!
