A micellar cleansing water with rose petals… sounds so luxurious and fancy, doesn’t it?

I’ve never been a fan of using micellar water to remove makeup. I usually reach for them when I want to refresh my already bare skin, or sometimes also use it after cleansing. When it comes to removing makeup I only trust cleansing oils and gentle, foaming cleansers.

Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Petals is a bit different from other micellar waters I’ve used in the past, because it contains a subtle fragrance and the formula is also thicker, ever so slightly. While other micellar waters felt like.. well.. water, this one feels a bit creamier, but it’s still very gentle even on sensitive skin. I usually can’t stand overly “rosy” scents, but this one is so delicate and lovely I really don’t mind it. I can’t help but try to compare this to another staple in my routine: Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herb and Rose Water, even though they’re completely different products.

nuxe micellar water review

For the sole purpose of this review, I did try removing my makeup with this micellar cleansing water and I have to say that it worked okay, I love the feeling of wiping off my lipstick at the end of the day, and this micellar water really left my lips feeling soft and smooth. BUT even with minimal makeup I had to use about seven cotton pads soaked in this stuff before my skin felt clean. This is exactly why I stick to cleansing oils and foaming cleansers when it comes to removing makeup.

As far as using this on my bare skin, I absolutely love it. It leaves my skin feeling soft, it’s not drying and feels very comfortable, nourishing and hydrating. Even after using this micellar water around my sensitive eyes, I did not experience any irritation or redness. $22.00 gets you a 200 ml bottle, but right now Nuxe is having a Christmas in July sale and everything on their website is 30% off so you can get yourself a bottle for $15.40.
