NYX BB Cream

NYX bb cream review

NYX bb cream reviewAsian BB creams are definitely amongst my favorite ones and in the past I wasn’t very impressed with drugstore  BB creams.

Recently someone recommended that I try NYX BB cream and I’ve been using it for the last couple of days. Speaking of NYX, I don’t know if it’s just me, but it doesn’t matter where I go, the NYX stands are always pretty much empty and I can never find what I want. It doesn’t matter if it’s Target, Ulta or any other store. Does anyone have the same problem? This is exactly why I love online shopping so much (probably too much).

One thing that I thought was very unusual about this BB cream is that it doesn’t have SPF. When I think “BB cream” I automatically assume that it’s a moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock- all in one. This is why I’m not exactly sure how I feel about NYX BB cream not having SPF. On one hand, I usually reach for BB creams because they are so great at multitasking, on the other hand I always wear sunscreen under my makeup anyway. I think of this as more of a tinted moisturizer, rather than a BB cream.

Putting sunblock aside, this BB cream is actually kinda awesome. My skin still feels pretty flakey from the Retin A and using foundation is a bit difficult right now. NYX BB cream feels so nice on my skin; it doesn’t accentuate my dry patches or the flakiness, but at the same time it also doesn’t feel oily around my T-zone (this might be because I usually wear a mattifying SPF moisturizer, too). The coverage does not even compare to that of some of the Asian BB creams I’ve tried, but it does help a ton with concealing overall redness.

Because of how great this feels on my skin, it also works very nicely under foundation. Since this doesn’t provide a lot of coverage and hydrates the skin so well, it won’t feel heavy or “cakey” under your makeup.

NYX BB cream review and swatch

NYX BB cream comes in three shades: Nude- for light to medium skin with beige undertones, Natural- for light to medium with peachy undertones and Golden- for medium skin with golden undertones. Asian BB creams usually only come in very limited number of shades (most of the time just one) and most formulas are designed to oxidize and match individual skin tones. Those formulas, even when they come only in one shade, usually suit me very well. So far, all “western” BB cream formulas I’ve tried are a bit too dark for me. Including this one from NYX. I picked up “Natural”, where I probably should have went with “Nude”. Even though I know I have very light skin tone, I always try to stay away from lightest shades when it comes to foundations and BB creams because they tend to have pink undertones. I can definitely get away with wearing this, but my face does look a bit too peachy-toned in good lighting. I think that I’ll pick up another tube of this in “Nude” and will give this one to my sister, who’s a bit darker than me.

If you’re looking for something that feels very light and hydrating on your skin, definitely give NYX BB cream a try, but if you have problematic skin, don’t expect it to give you a whole lot of coverage.

I love NYX, but the UK are behind on most of their newest products, and I don’t think I’ve seen this on the UK site which is so annoying! I’m a huge fan of BB Creams (and I’ve only tried the drugstore kind) so I can’t wait til this arrives in the UK to add to my collection, it looks and sounds lovely!

This has been around here for a while now, so maybe you might get lucky finding it in the UK soon?

Hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on this in the UK, drugstore/high street BB Creams have never been the best but this looks great!

This sounds pretty incredible, although living in the UK means we rarely get all these products from NYX!

The NYX stands in the UK are pretty non existent even though there’s supposed to be a few around I’ve never found them & their online site is a nightmare since nothing is ever in stock. But I will definitely keep this in mind for the future even if I get it off amazon or something like that as it sounds like a good light weight base x

Ahh that sucks! NYX is actually one of my favorite makeup brands, they’re usually very affordable and have a great quality, too.

I can never find Nyx products at Target! I order online which sucks because I can never get the right lipstick shade.
I almost got this but I ended up going with the CC creme in green to correct my redness (which I love, BTW). I don’t wear foundation so I like to use these to provide some coverage.

I know! To be honest, I can’t find anything at my local Target, the makeup isles are always so empty and I can’t tell you how many times I grabbed something only to find out that it was already used/swatched :|

I have never really been impressed with the BB creams we got here in the west. They all seem to be nothing but a tinted moisturiser. I’m moving to Hong Kong next month and my first purchase there will probably be a REAL BB cream :P

That’s exactly how I feel about them! Ahh lucky you! :D :D I usually buy my Asian BB creams on amazon and they’re so much better than the ones from the drugstore.

I have noticed that the nyx shades are generally limited in store. I may give this a try once my face does clear up

Bardzo jestem ciekawa tego produktu. W moim wypadku odcień natural chyba będzie lepszy… ciekawe, czy dostanę go np. w Douglas’ie stacjonarnym…

I have never tried any of NYX products, but i really want to. I tried too google the best NYX products, but surprisely i didn’t find much. I would love to hear your recommendations, what you like from NYX most aside from their lipsticks – i’ve heard enough of them:) Would be great to see a post about that or just a comment answer, thank you in advance!
