Tinted Lip Balms to Love in Winter

Cold, windy, dry weather and chronic dry lips don’t mix very well. Shocker, right?

Those with chronic dry lips will know that while they’re usually dry, regardless of the season or weather, winter can take it to another level. This is why I love reaching for tinted lip balms that give me just a touch of color while also nourishing and hydrating at the same time. Not many lipsticks will give you that, which why I tend to stick to tinted balms during the day- either alone or worn under lipstick.

It’s hard to pick just one and on any given day I carry at least five different kinds in my handbag. These are some I currently rotate between.

Sara Happ The Lip Slip: One Luxe Balm– deeply hydrating balm formulated with natural restorative oils that leaves lips feeling smooth and soft. It also adds a beautiful, baby-pink touch of color and delicate shimmer.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment– these tinted balms have been among some of my favorites for years. They’re hydrating, smoothing and help with uneven texture and dryness. With SPF 15 they also offer sun protection (which your lips need too, and it can’t be overlooked during winter) and come in many pretty, sheer colors. This is about as effortless as it gets when it comes to lip color. I have about ten different shades and my current favorites are Nude and Bloom

Lilah B. Tinted Lip Balm in B. Demure– love the pretty, heavy packaging but what’s inside is even better. The creamy formula of this balm moisturizes and softens even very dry, chapped lips. This shade is a sheer, soft pink which can also double as a cheek product for that fresh, dewy look.

L’Oreal Plump and Shine Lipstick in Coconut– technically a lipstick, but it definitely feels more like a lip balm. With a subtle, sheer, glossy color, it gives long-lasting hydration, makes them look fuller and doesn’t have the heaviness that most lipsticks do.

Dior Lip Glow– definitely one of my favorite formulas and a go-to when I need both the hydration and a touch of color. For that natural, pinky flush of color, I use the original Pink Glow or Matte Pink.

Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm– a three in one balm that plumps, hydrates and adds a little color boost to your lips. This balm reacts with the pH of your lips, enhancing their natural color.
