“Unicorn”

sinful colors unicorn swatch

I finally found THE the most beautiful yellow nail polish. Not too bright, not neon-like, simply perfect. “Unicorn” is my first nail polish from SinfulColors, and I couldn’t be happier with this gorgeous, gorgeous shade.

I’ve been on a look-out for a pastel-y yellow polish for a while now. For some reason, I never tried SinfulColors polishes, few weeks ago Kira suggested that I try them and when I saw the last, lonely bottle of “Unicorn” at Walgreens, I took it as a sign. I was a bit reluctant as the color didn’t look very appleaing in the bottle (my sister even said “eww that’s ugly” when I picked it up) but living in the 21st century has its perks. I googled the name of the polish on my phone and was amazed when I saw the swatches.

I think that for the most part, the formula was pretty good although I think it’s a bit more on the “runny” side, but it’s nothing that I can’t work with. I had to use three coats for a decent and even coverage, but fortunately it dried in no time. One coat was way too sheer, two was almost perfect and three coats left me completely satisfied. I also have to say that I love the name “Unicorn” (not that it has anything to do with the polish itself, but ya get what I mean). I never thought I’d say this, but my nails have been growing like crazy (must be all the biotin I take to grow out my hair) and I had to cut them because they were getting too long. Of course, as soon as I filed them down I went “why? why would you do this?” But typing has become much more comfortable :)

I’ve never ever seen a shade quite like this! What an incredible yellow :D Too neon-y and bright can definitely be a bit OTT, whereas some of the toned down yellows look too mellow and washed out so Unicorn is the perfect compromise. What a gorgeous compromise at that :) This is the perfect summery shade, and I think it would look so hot throughout the Spring and Easter months as well <3
It definitely shows you can't always judge a bottle by its – er? bottle :D ;) and these stunning shots are proof of that. Like you say it must have been fate as you are rocking Unicorn like the nail queen you are my love! <3

I love the name too! So different and unique! You've got such beautiful nails Paula, am not surprised you were a bit sad at having to cut them down, but what a plus about typing eh ;) Graham trained this girl at his workplace a long time ago (he delivers shopping, so mostly a male environment, lots of heavy lifting etc), and said her nails were so long he was worried about her snapping them all off! Haha! ;) :D

So unique, isn’t it? :) Just what I was looking for!

Thank you Sophie! Haha so funny about Graham! Strange enough, when I was 16 I worked at a meat deli and did enormous amounts of dish-washing everyday and heavy lifting as well, but my nails never looked healthier than they did then. The girls at work would tell me that it must be all the fat drippings that I was touching when handling meats and hams, etc. that kept them healthy haha, gross! So glad those days are over!

Such a gorgeous colour! I love how it looks muted and not in-your-face!
Oh, and I love typing when my nails are nice and strong – it feels so much more fun! haha! <3
Sinful colours have a wide range of colours I've seen in store but never picked one up!

Woah, I’m glad you tried them out! I’m not surprised a pastelly yellow took 3 coats, but after seeing this, I need it in my life.. that looks absolutely gorgeous against your skintone! I’m running into the city tomorrow and this is no doubt on my list now, thanks xo

Haha, it’s such a pretty color isn’t it? Thanks so much for recommending the brand, I’ve been wearing it for a few days now and it hasn’t chipped at all!
